Ukraine, with its capital in Kyiv, is a unitary republic divided into 24 oblasts (regions) and one autonomous republic (Crimea), each governed by locally elected councils as well as centrally appointed governors. Ukraine is also praised worldwide for its sunflower fields, symbolizing national resilience and beauty, and for its literary contributions from figures like Taras Shevchenko.

Covering approximately 603,500 square kilometers, Ukraine is Europe’s largest country after Russia, featuring a varied landscape that ranges from the rolling steppes of the central and eastern regions to the rugged Carpathian Mountains in the west and the Black Sea coastline in the south.
